No Concerts In Israel

Israel tour, which was supposed to start this week, is
cancelled. The girls were not on the plane, which was
supposed to fly them from Moscow to Israel. In the office
of the company "Izabella Art Production", responsible for
the organization of Tatu’s tour in Israel, announced on
the 17th of June, that "there was a problem with Israeli
visas, which were not granted to the girls and their crew
for yet unknown reasons". According to the representatives
of the company, the head impresario of the group even went
to MVD (Ministry of Internal Affairs) on Tuesday, aiming
to deal with the problems, so that the group can start
their tour.
In return the press department of the Ministry issued the
following statement: “We are sorry that Herman Khaszanov
(the impresario) didn’t bother to explain why he blamed
the Ministry of Internal Affairs for t.A.T.u.’s failure to
enter Israel. As early as on the 9th of June we issued the
visas to t.A.T.u., including their producer. This
information was handed over to Mr. Khazanov”. On the 17th
of June, "Izabella Art Production" announced, that Tatu’s
tour is cancelled, and that it is possible that the group
will still tour Israel next month.
t.A.T.u. was initially scheduled for three gigs in Israel.
Gradually this number was reduced to one gig in Tel Aviv
because of the poor ticket sales. It’s possible that
t.A.T.u., which said in their interview to Ediot Ahronot
(Israeli press) that they were looking forward to see many
fans in Israel, were disappointed by the poor ticket sales
and therefore preferred simply not to come at all. |

Israel Concerts Off?

was not granted an entrance visa to Israel.
The gigs, scheduled on the 19th and the
20th of June in Israel could be off. Ivan Shapovalov said
to the InterMedia reporter that the duo as well as the
tour team couldn’t get the entrance visas. Shapovalov
doesn’t know what basis the Israeli Embassy used to deny
the visas. Yulia Volkova and Lena Katina were supposed to
be flown directly from Moscow on the 17th of June, but now
their visit is postponed. "It looks like the gigs
scheduled on the appointed dates won’t take place," said
Ivan Shapovalov. "The final information will be available
only tomorrow (June 18). We’ll try to manage those
performances anyway – it’s possible that we’ll reschedule
the dates."

Fox News Networks The O'Reilly Factor featured a small segment
with the question : Is MTV becoming debauchery TV? The
program featured a few clips from shows like The Osbournes,
Jackass, and Real World. But the main clip was from our
beloved duo TATU at the 2003 MTV Movie Awards O'Reilly
called it a "Giant quazay lesbian display.'' Statistics
were shared about how many children under the age of 12
are watching MTV w/o parent supervision, and one of the
guest speakers, a Mr. Michael Medved said, "MTV defines
what's hip... this group TATU, these two girls who pretend
to be lesbian, who were part of the MTV Movie Awards... I
mean no one was expecting a lesbian orgy scene." The
interview was one sided, where the other speaker who was
supporting all the TV programs wasn't really allowed to
speak her point of view. |

MTV Movie Awards, T.A.T.U.'s 200 KM/H in the Wrong
Lane will make a significant leap forward. A medley
that merged "All the Things She Said" with their latest
single, "Not Gonna Get Us," helped almost double the
album's weekly sales and push it from #127 to #71.
TATU in Japan

Russian duo t.A.T.u. will be arriving in Japan on the
25th of June for the shooting their new video.
The video clip is in process for the
release of the group’s newest single Show Me Love in
Japan. As the producers told the Russian press agency
Novosti, 200-300 Japanese schoolgirls from senior high
classes, dressed in the famous t.A.T.u. uniforms, will
be participating in this shot. This visit is expected to
cause stormy hysteria due to the group’s popularity
amongst Japanese teenagers. The album volume has sold
over 1,5 millions copies there. The success of the
Russian group is so complete in Japan that there’s
already a Japanese cover-band formed of two 17-years old
girls: Emi Sudzuki and Juria Oki who are performing a
Japanese version of All The Things She Said.
No Concert In Riga [Latvia]

has cancelled their gig in Riga.
Pasadena Group Promotion, which was
responsible for the group’s gig in Riga in June 2003,
has officially announced that the gig is off. The
organisers are preparing a mechanism of refunding for
the sold tickets. As the marketing director of Pasadena
Group Ilgvar Rukers said in the beginning of May,
Kipsala Arena had a capacity for 7000-8000 people, which
was sold up to 80% of it. The t.A.T.u’s management –
company Neformat – has cancelled or delayed the gigs all
over the world, including Germany, UK and Japan. The
management explains that the show concept of t.A.T.u’s
as well as its changing status connected to the overall
popularity in the world, forbids arranging more than one
show in the same region - including the Baltic region
countries.

Yulia and Lena began by singing part of ATTSS while
walking down the isle. When reaching the stage, they
started singing "Not Gonna Get Us" with over a hundred
dancers in schoolgirl outfits running down the isle's
chanting "Not Gonna Get Us", as newspaper articles with
scandalous TATU headlines flashed on the screens. The
dancers later stripped down to white cotton underwear and
kissed at the conclusion. Not much was seen of Yulia and
Lena probably b/c of the large number of performers on the
stage. Instead of me yapping on about the performance,
